Soeren Schou AKA Pharfar is firmly established as Denmarks biggest reggae and dancehall producer. An innovative soul burning for reggae music!
After many years producing reggae music in the underground reggae scene 2006 would see Pharfar receive public recognition for his efforts when receiving multiple awards and among those a Danish Music Award as Producer of the Year. That award was received for his productions for platinum album selling Bikstok Røgsystem a group he himself was member of alongside Bukki Blæs and Eaggerman.
Pharfar and Filip Nikolic (Turbotito) gathered critical acclaim and niche success with their electronic dub style output under the Djosos Krost moniker under which they released the album No Sign Of Bad in 2005. A new Djosos Krsot album is in the making at the writing of these lines, we expect to see the releasof that during spring 2009.
Through several years Pharfar was the primary producer for Denmarks queen of dancehall Natasja (R.I.P), initially on the album titled ‘Release’ as well as on her Danish language album I Danmark Er Jeg Født and on her forthcoming album in English (patois) Shooting Star.
Pharfar has also proudly presented the crop of reggae vocalists on ‘Pharfar Presents, A Rub A Dub Sunday in Copenhagen. Food Palace Allstars’. An album with some of the best artists from Jamaica’s roots reggae culture. The artists on the album have all visited the club Rub A Dub Sundays. Some of the tunes are recorded in studios in Kingston, Jamaica and other in Pharfar’s Copenhagen based Food Palace Studio but all of the tunes are produced and arranged by Pharfar himself.
Features on the album includes living legends John Holt, Horace Andy, Mykal Rose and Max Romeo besides of pioneers like Sugar Minott, Half Pint, Kong Kong, Johnny Clarke, Echo Minott, Buro Banton and Junior Murvin. The album shows that only the sky is the limit for Pharfar’s output … Next up; solo album with the legendary Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru produced and composed by Pharfar!
