Maybe it was fate when Stine Kinck was dragged weeping through the airport in New York wearing orange prison uniforms, handcuffs and belly chain and interrogated for 12 hours stiff, then thrown in detention.
Had it not been for a traumatic encounter with the U.S. immigration department, Stine Kinck would probably not be back in Denmark, and nobody could benefit from her impressive voice on self titled soul and reggae-inspired debut album, she has made with producer team Donkey Sound.
Stine Kinck is not so much a criminal, she just loves New York! But after the whole 3 ½ years in the States, immigration police had had enough, and without warning, she was kicked out of the USA and had to leave her life, her apartment and her little cat.
The only bright spot was when she, with a face swollen from crying, was ushered into the mandatory medical examination and the doctor said, ‘Stine Kinck – isn’t there a singer with that name?’ It turned out he had a compilation with the song’ Epiphany ‘ which was something of an underground hit in the U.S. at the time.
